Squeezing It All In

Time for blogging is just not as easy to come by. I'm going to squeeze in a lot in this post.

Life is crazy busy with these crazy cute kids of mine.

Some things I've learned since becoming a mother of two:
1. It doesn't matter how closely I stick to the plan or schedule of the day, something is going to happen that is going to throw it off a little. And I need to just accept that, and then relax. It's no easy task for me.
2. I need my sleep or I am a mad witch woman. My patience goes out the door if I don't get my sleep. Which is frustrating. All of my needs are so inconvenient to me. If I didn't have to take care of myself along with the two kids, life would be a heck of a lot easier!
3. Time management is seriously SO important, and also SO burdensome. Anyone else feel like time has literally sped up? Like God has made time go faster on purpose, ya know? Anyway, I'll never get everything done, no matter how much time I have

CHRISTMAS
We had a great Christmas, as always. It's always such an exciting time. This year, I was especially excited to see how Gavin would react to things. It was fun to see his enthusiasm when opening and playing with presents.

Christmas Eve at my parent's. Santa came. Tanner slept just fine while Santa held him.

Gavin, on the other hand... Wasn't a fan of Santa. I wasn't too surprised, because he was tired, and doesn't understand. But, he is such a people person, so it was kind of disappointing that he cried haha.

Jack and Tanner. Cousins. 7 weeks apart. Two super cute babies, that look nothing alike. Also, Tanner is a hunk of chunk next to Jack. Haha. Love these two cuties! They will be such good friends.

At our own home that night, we opened jammies. We tried to get a cute picture in front of our ornament-less tree.

I have a lot of pictures from Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day that I'm not going to post. Just know, we were really blessed, and had a great Christmas. Christmas morning, we had to just our little family. Then we spent Christmas day/night with Spencer's family. Thanks to all our family for helping make our Christmas so special.

Just after getting a bath in the kitchen sink:

Look at my little boy! He is so not a baby anymore! Not sure how I feel about that.

This one day, we found this super cute bear on our front porch. He was the cutest little bear we ever did see. Especially when he would smile and say, "Cheese!".

Learning how to hold that heavy head up. Chubby cheekers.

This is my, scum-ball-stay-at-home-mom-look. I like to make sure the kids always look cute though (Which isn't hard) so that makes up for it, right? Truth is, most days I do look like this. But, I've started waking up waaay earlier than the kids do so I can exercise and shower before they wake up. It has helped me not to look so scumy. Anyway, I really love this cute smile of his.

A few days ago, Gavin was sicker than sick. I have never seen such a miserable little boy. He had goop coming out of his eyes and nose almost constantly. We finally got him to the doc and he is back to normal. This pic is when I gave him his bear. He hugged that bear so sweetly.

I can't believe it, either. He is such a chunk! Gavin had chunky cheeks, but Tanner is just chunky all over. I pick him up, and my fingers sink into his back fat. Haha! Oh I love his chunky-ness. So kissable. He is a good baby. He only gets fussy when he's tired or hungry. Usually, they are both an easy and quick fix. But sometimes it takes longer to get him to settle down to go to sleep. He is becoming a very smiley little baby. He smiles a lot everytime he is awake. He doesn't need to be held as much as Gavin did as a baby, which could just be because I can't hold him as much as I did Gavin. We are so grateful for our Tanner!

He was blessed the day he turned 2 months. He wore the same blessing outfit as Gavin, and looked just as cute. He didn't cry at all during the blessing, and was such a good boy all day!

The rest of what is going on:
Gavin will say words, but he doesn't "use" them if that makes sense. The only one he uses is mama.
He also LOVES to mimic anything we do. It is so much fun to see him try to do what we're doing. I mean, he does it with everything!
He is also such a chatter box! He will just talk baby chatter to me for as long as I will listen, which is long, because I love to listen to him tell me stories. He is growing up so fast.

We are supposed to be moving by the end of next month. Our lease ends, and we have a few options to choose from. It's kind of stressful. Hopefully we'll know for sure in the next little bit what we are going to do.

Spencer found out his third year rotations will all be in the Provo area, except for 2 of them will be in Nephi. We were really happy to hear that he got what he wanted-it's not common.

I starting training for the Salt Lake City Half Marathon. I paid for it (it ain't cheap), so I am committed. I. Am. Terrified. But, it's going to happen so, wish me luck!

Another Great Day! {Part 2}

After we had oohed and awwed at how blessed we were for finding those deals at the yard sales, and reminicsing on those who have been blessings to us, we prepared for a concert!
Spencer is doing a rotation {aka internship} for school at a Pharmacy in Saratoga Springs. He learned very quickly that the Pharmacist there is a great guy. This guy and his family go to Pony Express days {Eagle Mountain} every year, and every year they go to the concert that is put on. The Pharmacist had offered Spencer tickets to the concert. Who was going to be in concert? Chris Cagle! Spencer, knowing I would love that, accepted the offer graciously. The Pharmacist said they would save us a seat. {Side note: If you don't know Chris Cagle, you don't listen to country, and I feel sorry for you ;)}
When we arrived at the concert, there were SO many people. I also ran into my good friend Adrie and her family, so that was fun. When we got in touch with the Pharmacist, we were able to find him and his family. The place was packed btw. The P {aka the Pharmacist. I'm getting sick of typing it out} and his family had a perfect spot, and saved us some space too. They were all very nice and friendly. It was very comfortable to be around them.

When Chris had finally come out, the music was louder than the opening singer, and the crowd was definitely a lot louder too. Well, Gavin was not too thrilled about that. He cried, and cried, and cried. Tears were just streaming down his cute cheeks. We did our best to calm him down, and reassure him. It took a couple of songs to get him calmed down, but he did eventually. Not long after that, he fell asleep! First it was too loud for him, and then he fell asleep? Weird one, that boy. I said to Spencer, "I hope he's not sleeping because he went deaf!" haha. He's not deaf btw.
Chris Cagle is one awesome guy. During like his second song or something, he started yelling, "Stop! Stop! Turn off the music! We need police and security here in front right now!" There was someone in the crowd that was standing in front of the stage that was starting a fight or a ruckus or something. After the loser was taken hold by the Police, Chris said something like, "Get him out of here. There are too many people here wanting a good time, I don't want him here." So the loser was taken out. Chris then said, "There are men and women from across the country fighting for our freedom, the last thing we need to do is fight amongst ourselves." Well said right? Among the crowd that was in front of the stage, a little boy was on his dad's shoulders, and the fight had scared him. Chris invited him and his sister to sit on stage while they performed.
Chris Cagle had at least two moments during the concert where he had to take a couple of minutes to thank us {the crowd}. He said that he and his band have waited what seemed like a long time to perform for a group that really appreciated them as artists and performers. He got emotional too. He cried , and couldn't speak for a little bit. He told us over and over how humbled he was because of us. It had been the biggest crowd for Pony Express days, and Chris was humbled again that they were the headliner, and not the opening  performers.
In other words, I gained a lot of respect for him that night! I have been to several country concerts, and compared to Chris, they are all WAY more into themselves, and are there for themselves, not the fans. I think it's safe to say he's a good guy haha. Also, he sounds exactly the same live as he does on the radio. Pretty amazing.
We also got to hear his new single that hasn't even come out yet. And it was great!
After the concert, there were fireworks. Gavin was awake for that, and just loved it! He laid back on Spencer's chest, and just watched the sky light up. He, like most babies, loves anything that will light up. I'd say the fireworks were a hit for him, and we'll be doing more of that this summer :)

In Case You're Curious...

As you know, Spencer is attending pharmacy school. He is doing SO well. It's an accelerated program which means that he attends one class all day long for two weeks, and then takes a test for that class. He has to get a 90% or above on the test to pass. If he doesn't, he has to retake it the following monday, and if he doesn't pass that test, then he has to retake the entire class over the summer. Anyway, they give you plenty of chances to do well in the program. He's taken 2 tests for lecture classes, and passed both of them with flying colors. Then he has a few classes that he has to do on the side, and what not. Anyway, he has done well on ALL of his tests. I'm not surprised, because he is a smartie pants! He's also doing an internship at a Pharmacy, and is enjoying that. He wishes he could be out on the hunts this year. It's practically eating him up inside. I just have to remind him, that after school is finally over, he will have the money to go on as many hunts as he wants (well at least we're counting on it being worth it!). It doesn't help very much though haha. He is enjoying college football though! I am proud to call him my husband. I really am. It's not just because he's super smart, very kind, patient, fun, sexy, but it's also because he and I are a good team. We just fit together. And I love that!

Before we moved up north, we had an apartment lined up that we were told would be available by mid-end of October. It was a phenomenal deal that we really couldn't have passed up. It was in my parent's ward, super cheap with utilities included, but a nice place, it was above the garage of a great family, my brother is building a house down the road, it's 15 min. max from Spencer's school. It was just what we needed, mostly because of location and price. So we planned on living in Spencer's parents' basement until the apt. was available. About 2 days after we moved into the basement, we found out that actually the apt. won't be available til around March. Yeesh... The bad thing about living with Spencer's parent's, is that it's an hour drive to school, and an hour drive back. But, at least there was no rent. Anyway, because he isn't working (there is no way he'd have the time for a job), and I'm not working (I've turned in a few applications, but we don't really NEED me to work right now), rent is kind of a ridiculous expense. It would be even if we were working, but you get my point. So in the basement we've stayed. We're still not sure if we'll be actively looking for an apt, or just kind of see how it goes... I guess that means we're seeing how it goes.

I was so excited to be up north and close to my family and friends. And I am in a position where I can see them pretty much any day I want. So that is nice. Our living situation isn't ideal, but it works for now. My in-laws are great. They're very helpful, and we appreciate that they are willing to help us out with our living situation. One thing I LOVE is being back in a family ward. Student (single or married) wards are great, but 4 years worth was enough for me. The ward we're in now, I really have enjoyed so far. I haven't met a lot of people, but they are good people who carry the spirit close to them. We're the youngest family in the ward which is no big deal, but a little different than what we were used to.

Gavin and I take it day by day, and it is usually a good time with him :) He isn't a fussy baby, and he's just my little buddy. I love that he's mine FOREVER, and I'm his mother. Like they all say, and like they all have said to me, motherhood isn't easy, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. There have been a couple of times where I did feel like I needed a break (a short break though haha), but other than that I love taking care of him, soothing him, feeding him, cuddling/holding him, it just doesn't get old. I just love that he needs me specifically. Yes, other people can take care of him just fine, but sometimes he just needs to hear my voice and that is enough for him. And I love that.

So in case you're curious... We are happy and life is great/special/worht it/exciting/busy. To some it may not look like it, but my little family is very blessed and looked after.

Roseman's College Of Pharmacy Presents:

The White Coat Ceremony.

"It marks the entry and acceptance of the students into the profession of pharmacy as students."

The staff and faculty were introduced. Most of which are pharmacists.
They had a former student give a speech. He gave a great speech about how to stick through the tough times, and what to look forward to when they have completed their schooling. He donated a significant amount the the program, and now owns his own pharmacy.

It was all sort of surreal to me, because we have talked about pharmacy school for so long. Well the talking about it is over, and now it's the real deal. Way to go Spence, you are pretty much amazing!

The donning of his White Coat.

Class of 2014, and all pharmacists in the room, reciting The Oath of a Pharmacist.

Looking pretty professional if ya ask me.

I'm so proud of my hubby!

My two favorite people.

It's going to be a busy and rough next 3 years, but we are so blessed to be heading on this journey together. <3

Survival Of Finals

This is how we do it:

Motivation boosters.

Pretty sweet eh? Thanks to my mother in-law we are set for finals.

Well, at least the eating and encouraging words part of finals...

Spencer and I also decided to go for a picnic/fishing day trip.
We of course thought it'd be warm weather.
Silly us! Utah weather never cooperates with outdoor activities!

It was just a tad windy. Windy enough we couldn't cast a line.
It was also too cold for my liking.

So this is what we did instead:

Talked and ate.
Talked and ate.

Took random pictures as well.

Random like this one:

Yay!

So Close, Yet So Far.

I am really super duper-ly looking forward to school being over!
I have one test and one assignment due today. And then it's onto finals.
yay.

I have so many plans for after finals are over.
I work REAL early in the morning, which means I have practically the whole day after work.
So.
This summer is going to be busy.
I hope!
I want to go through ALL of our stuff/junk and get rid of what we can.
THEN.
I'm going to Deep DEEP clean the apartment.
To hopefully make the job of cleaning the apartment after we're packed, a little bit easier.
Doing these things before I get too far along in the pregnancy.
AND THEN....

I know you are so excited!

I'm going to start packing!!!
Whoop. Whoop. (I actually am looking forward to packing)
During this packing time, I plan on putting together the nursery, without fully putting it together.
We will be moving shortly after he arrives, but I still want to have the things ready for the nursery for when we have somewhere to put it. (When we move into our new place)

Between all of this, I'd like to do some sewing projects.
Baby blanket, and possibly a blanket for the hubs as well. I know! Fun right?!

P.S. My mother has begun to ask me when I want to have my baby shower. How far along would you suggest I plan on doing it? Thoughts?

Complete.

Phew! I really need to get this out there! Spencer got into pharmacy school!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW. Isn't that great? It is. It really, really is.

Let me just give you a little bit of a background of how great this news is:

When Spencer first got the call from the University to schedule an interview, we were STOKED! Like pretty much counting on him getting into the program.  There almost wasn't a doubt in my mind.  The reason I felt so good about it, is because they got his application on a Friday, and called him on Monday for the interview. Which told me, he's pretty impressive!  So then it was just a matter of waiting for his interview to come which was about two months away at the time.  I still had felt confident that he'd do well in his interview, they'd love him, and then he'd get an acceptance call...  Interview day came.  His interview was one of the last ones of the day.  They pulled him in there, asked him questions about leadership, and various other topics.  He called me after the interview was done to tell me about it.  He did not really feel good about his interview.  He felt he could have answered some questions better, and that the interview was much shorter than what he was expecting.

SO then we both started to think, "well why was the interview so short?" And of course Spencer is just kicking himself for some of his responses and how he could have made them better and what not.  We talk about it all the time after the interview, and come to the conclusion, that we'll probably have to get him applying to a bunch more schools this summer, and for him to retake the PCAT (test that's required for most pharmacy programs), blah, blah, blah.  Ugh it was such an awful thought to me.  1. Because that means that we're basically going to have to wait one more year to be making a great salary (not to sound worldly or whatever, but who wouldn't be disappointed) and 2.  We were going to have this baby down here, by ourselves, with no family (we have some great friends down here though!), and our family would like not even know our kid.  I just did not like the thought of having to be down here with nobody to go see, and missing out on family gatherings along with our baby missing out on those things too.  It's not that I can't function without my family, but I love all of them (in-laws too!) and who doesn't want to be around the people they love? So anyway, I think Spencer and I both were pretty much planning on staying in So. Utah for another year.  He started planning on drawing out for his elk tag this fall, and going to school here.  I started planning on working part-time at Kolob, and tried (TRIED!) to be okay with the thought that my child, and our families will not be seeing each other as much as I would like.  Plus, I wouldn't be seeing my family, and friends up there as much as I would like.  The only positive thing I could see about us staying down here is that we can hang out with the Nielson's (love you and your fam Steph!) more, and we've already got jobs, and what not...

K? Got how our mind sets have been for the past 2 (almost 3!) months? Like not planning on anything but staying down here. That's it. Not even playing with the thought of moving up north. AT ALL. Seriously.

I have told so many people how badly I wish we'd be up north for the next 3 years at least.  I cried to my mom over the phone about it, and she tried to convince me that we could still do it, even if he didn't get into school.  She totally understood where I was coming from.  Plus, I think she wants to see me more ;) I mean, I cried one too many times about not moving up north.  A cry that had no hope of my dreams coming true! Haha.

So imagine, as I'm at work I get a text from Spencer, "Good news for you."  At first, it sounds like he's meaning good news that only applies to me.  Then I reply, "What's that?" "I need to really talk to you in person" Anyway, I ended up calling him, and at this point I was all sorts of sweaty! He told me the grandly awesome news, and I could not contain myself!! Seriously, I'm at work, and just like screaming and giggling, and walking very quickly around the room (I went and hid in a room while I called him)!

I don't think I need to explain why this is such great news!!!! Seriously. We're so happy.  But still unfamiliar with the fact that we will be moving this summer!! It feels so unreal to both of us. I mean, GRADUATE SCHOOL! WOW.  So much we have to look forward to!

Oh, and in case you didn't catch it, he totally said "Yes" to the acceptance call. Or in other words, YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stupid TA's

Alright. So I'm pretty irritated right now. I can write what I want on my blog, so I'm just going to let this out. I want you all to know how StUpId TA's (teacher's assistants) are! Not all of them. Okay, maybe this is the only one I have ever complained about. But gosh. He is my TA for biology lab. Not as smart as he thinks he is. He marks me wrong for the DUMBEST things on quiz's, when I should have gotten 100% and then he won't change it back to being correct just to be a doofus. Well, TOMORROW I have a biology lab practical (test) and last week, this all-knowing TA was supposed to have everyone's lab corrected and in the box by Thursday. I looked Thursday, no labs. I looked Friday, NO Labs. I looked today, NO LABS!!! A bunch of cow crap. How the heck am I supposed to study for my MIDTERM practical?!?! That I'm supposed to take tomorrow morning? Huh? I am just trying to get some good grades, and this kid is ruining it for me! Darn him!! I emailed my teacher, and have not heard back. I think I should not have to take the stupid test and get an A in the class, because it certainly is not my fault for all of this procrastination!

I really needed to get that all out.

Procrastinating

I have an anatomy test and biology test this week. On. The. Same. Day. PLUS, my anatomy test is on 8, yes 8 chapters!!! 8 chapters is a lot, but especially for anatomy. I have so much studying to do I don't even feel like starting. So. This is me procrastinating.

Yesterday in Relief Society, everyone stood up said their name, how long they've been married, and something interesting about themselves. So, my turn, "I'm Kelli Gledhill, we've been married for about 2 1/2 years, and I guess I'll announce now that I'm 13 weeks pregnant." Yes, well if you know me, I get super, and I mean Su-per nervous talking in a group of more than like 4 people that I'm not comfortable around. So anyway, after church, people were congratulating me, and saying, "So 15 weeks then huh?" haha nope. I must slurr my words when I'm nervous too.

I've also noticed that when I actually try to sing the hymns in church, the people sitting in front of us (it changes who it is every week) start to look around and it seems like they're looking for who has that AWFUL singing voice. Lol. I'm not a singer at all. Kind of funny.

I'd have to say the best thing about pregnancy (besides the actual fact of a baby on the way) is the excitement in Spencer. He is not one to express his emotions much, but he can't hide his excitement for this baby. It is the best. He is going to be such a great daddy. I'm so lucky. Our kids are lucky too. I know they're going to love their dad!

I'm going back, back, back to school.

I have been quite excited for school, believe it or not. Which is good right? I have been working on my mind-set for this semester for quite sometime now. I kept thinking, "it's not going to be easy, lots of adjustments, if you want awesome grades you gotta put A LOT of effort into it..." Well, today was my first day back. I have taken 1 and 1/2 years off of school. My last semester at Snow was a nightmare. Mostly because of my math class. I worked my butt OFF for that freaking class, and still got a D. BUT, it was the first time the teacher had taught math in like 10 years, and she had no idea what she was doing. The average in the class was a flipping D!! So, I practically blame that stupid teacher for ruining it for me haha. I really think I did need a break from school though. It helped me decide what I want to go to school for, and it helped me WANT to do REALLY well in school. I didn't have that kind of motivation before, so I'm glad it's there now.

Yesterday, I recieved an email from my Anatomy teacher. Talking a little bit about what to expect this week in class, and what to expect at each of her lectures and labs. I was quite scared after reading that. She wanted us to print out these outlines before class on Tuesday. Well the outline is like 73 slides long! Yeah. It's going to be great.

Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays I will work and then I have a class right after work. So that was today. Nutrition class. I'm really looking forward to this class. I think I will learn some good things, and actually enjoy it. I also like the teacher so far. She seems really down to earth, and pays attention to students and their lives.

I made it to class, and sat in the second row. Yes, I want to be one of those that sit close up. :) So, then two other students eventually sat next to me. No big deal. Didn't really bother introducing myself or anything. The teacher gets talking and then asks, "Who in here is married?" Me, and like 2 other people raise our hands. The kid next to me turns and says, "You're married? But, you're way too young." WHOA, buddy. Excuse me? Do you even know my name? Have you even looked at me for more than a second? I said, "I'm 21" Then he says, "How long have you been married?" Haha, okay so I got married at 19, but that doesn't mean you knew that before I said so! I mean really, those people out there who think, "She got married WAY too young." Do NOT know anything about me, my husband, our story, our feelings, our experiences, so they can just shut the HELLO UP! Sorry, but it bugs me so bad when people say stuff like that. They don't know me at all, and what gives them the right to voice their opinion about my life? Besides, that type of thinking are people that usually like to party way too much, and who are pretty immature. It shouldn't bother me, but it does.

Maybe, being pregnant makes me even more prone to being offended. I am one who tends to get offended easily (Believe me though, I have made some great strides since being married to my awesome guy), and lately it seems like everything just gets under my skin. Oh well. Life goes on.

So, about the pregnancy. :) Everything seems fine. No more "scares", and hardly any symptoms. There are times when I'm hungry, that I feel like I might pass out, and there are times that I feel like my blood sugar has dropped waaay low (when I'm hungry). I have also noticed that when I eat something, almost immediately after, my stomach feels empty again, and I'm HUNGRY! Haha. All of the time. Also, I love peanut m & ms. We bought this huge bag from costco about a month ago, and my husband has eaten like the whole thing. I just can't eat them. It's so weird. They do not sound good to me at all. Neither do SunChips, and those are my favorite!!! Anyway, I feel pretty great. I feel guilty sometimes, because I know a lot of people who have had quite opposite experiences. The only thing, is that a lack of symptoms, brings on the worry. Of course. But, I feel pretty great. I go in next week for the first appt. Yay!!

Yep, The Dead Me. Imagine having to do that to your face, and hair three times a week... Not fun huh? And I'm sure I'll hate the dance by the end of the week. This is my best Halloween costume yet. AND, I did it all by myself. I guess I do have some creativity in me... When it comes to being dead anyway haha.

Halloween Routine

For drill team, we've been working on a halloween routine. We performed the routine last night at a basketball game. It was a lot of fun. We all just kind of pitched in ideas to make up the routine, and made our own scary costumes. We were supposed be looking like dead "Thriller Girls" or something of that nature. I'd like to thank mom for her donation of the dress I was fortunate enough to wear. The dress however, didn't seem to stay in one piece as i became more and more dead. I had more holes in the dress each time my body decomposed a little bit more. It was quite an experience, let me tell you. I woke up from a dead sleep into a living nightmare. Not to mention that I'll have to re-awaken Thursday and Friday this week. The reason for this is that our Dead Clan is rejoining our deadness to perform for those who are entering the haunted tunnel at Snow College. We'll be performing for around three hours the first night, and two hours the second night. Talk about FUN.
